Jennifer and Cheryl - Attached are photos of each of the girls in their new digs. More to follow in the days ahead. We ended up having 10-12 inches of snow! I'm sure the girls felt they took a really long ride and ended up in the same place weatherwise! It's finally starting to melt, but I think I like snow better than mud. Myrtle is the sweetest mare - very affectionate, totally likes being loved on. She is gorgeous, smaller than I thought she would be - I love her. She unloaded like a trooper. Niki thinks she would just like to eat hay, walk around and prefers not to be touched yet. Luckily, albeit no surprise, she followed Myrtle into their pasture. She'll come around. She's bigger than Myrtle and beautiful, too. They are noble, amazing and we are honored to have them with us. I hope the other folks in Washington will stay in touch. It will be fun to hear of everyone's progress, and especially of the new babies. If everyone adopting one of the horses would post about how they are doing, it would be fabulous. I follow your site and look for stories everyday. Thank you for our Christmas angels and your dedication and love of horses! Without you ladies, I cannot allow myself to even think of their fate. Thank you, also, to everyone who donated time, money, prayers and love for these magnificent equines. Happy New Year ~ Judy and Mark.

Mark and Judy wish to announce the birth of our majestic Myrtle's little (okay NOT so little) colt, Freedom. He was born yesterday, May 24, 2008, at noon. With it being Memorial Day Weekend and given his background and heritage, we chose the name Freedom. He is a beautiful dark silver gray in coloring, with a lighter gray muzzle, and we are assuming he will be gray. Myrtle, as was expected, is a wonderful, gentle mother. Myrtle did, however, give birth to her darling son by dropping hm in a big mud puddle in the pasture - this was unexpected! We knew she didn't have long to go, but oh, my :~) We were there within minutes and had to hold him up and then attempt to lift her to his feet. This took awhile ... luckily it was a dry day and they spent a couple of hours in the pasture. Boy, he was on her feet quickly and nursing right away. The vet will come out today to check him over and draw blood. They are now safely tucked away in their huge stall. Amazing - such a miracle! Niki is next, which will be interesting, as she is not as laid back as Myrtle and somewhat grumpy, still does not like her muzzle touched. More to follow - enjoy the photos and fruits of your intense labor ... thanks, as always, Jennifer and Cheryl ~ j.
